Walid Al-Agha was born in Damascus in 1953. He graduated from the Visual Communication Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus in 1979, and worked as a teacher there.
Walid Al-Agha mixes in his paintings elements of calligraphy from the ancient languages of the region, such as Arabic, Aramaic and Sumerian. He says about this: “My artistic experience depends on the Arabic letter and its consistency with the symbols of ancient Syrian civilizations, which are rich in inexhaustible connotations and aesthetics, in all their projections on the land, history and civilization.”
