ASMAE ALAMI, Born in 1967 in Fez, lived in Montreal, lives and works in Marrakech.
A multidisciplinary visual artist, she finds resources in questioning the human condition at the intersection of cultures. Through her works she explores the invisibility of human thought and uses the most powerful tool of communication: the letters of the alphabet to create her installations. In her painting she uses writing to embody characters where the letter replaces the line. She thus places herself at the intersection of two different artistic cultures: Western and Arab-Muslim.
Decorated with the Royal Wissam of Merit (2006 Morocco).
Her works have gone to Christie’s and are in major collections in Morocco, the Middle East and Canada, as well as the National Museum of Armenia in Yerevan and Dubai Airport.
