Abdallah Akar (1952 – )was born in Tunisia, but moved to Paris at the end of the 60s. He is a painter and has studied calligraphy in Paris, under the Iraqi master Ghani Alani. His works are often installations that revolve around poetry, historical stories and legends, where calligraphy is allowed to take a prominent place. He experiments with different materials in his works, such as fabric, glass and wood to show new sides of the traditional calligraphy. Akar has participated in several exhibitions both in Europe and the Middle East.
